I’m a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Renal Transplant. I work closely with the renal transplant team to optimize medication regimen for renal transplant recipients, including transplant and non-transplant related medications.
I’ve been working in this field since 2013 when a new position opened up on the kidney transplant team. Previously, I had worked with patients across the spectrum of chronic kidney disease, including pre-dialysis and dialysis, so the natural progression was transplant.
It's been an exciting opportunity to learn something new and craft a role for a pharmacist in the most complex patient population.
For me, patient interaction is the most enjoyable part of my job. I like being able to work closely with patients and come up with a plan together so they can achieve the most benefits from their medications. It’s also rewarding to see patients doing well and living a normal life with the new kidney post-transplant.
