Joanne Curtis, a long-time volunteer with BC Transplant, brings a unique perspective to the table. As a liver transplant recipient, she knows firsthand the incredible gift of life that organ donation represents. Having actively participated in various initiatives and campaigns, Joanne’s ability to wear many hats makes her a valuable member of the volunteer program, always ready to lend support when needed.
Joanne’s dedication and commitment to raising awareness about organ donation have made a profound impact within the province, contributing directly to an increase in organ donation registrations. Her personal journey has inspired colleagues, sparked meaningful conversations and educated many about the power of transplantation.
“Joanne’s courage, resilience, and passion for advocating for organ donation left a lasting impression on everyone who had the opportunity to listen to her. Her ability to connect with people on an emotional level and convey the significance of this cause is commendable,” says Joanne’s nominator, Alicia Di Cesare, lead, Projects and Volunteer Experience at BC Transplant.
