PROMIS database

PROMIS – the Patient Records and Outcome Management Information System – is the transplant community’s clinical information system.
PROMIS provides real-time, accurate data to support a broad range of functions, all of which are focused on two key outcomes:

  • better health for people with end stage  disease
  • best use of healthcare resources
Care providers can access information about a patient's medical care no matter where the care is delivered. With data collected from BC Transplant Centres, Home Teams and BC Transplant, PROMIS supports:

  • individual patient care management
  • organ donation and transplantation
  • continuous quality improvement and research
  • outcomes-based planning
From wait listing a patient for a life-saving transplant to supporting research and resource allocation, PROMIS touches every aspect of organ donation and transplant care within BC.

Data is captured within PROMIS from the moment a potential organ donor is identified within an ICU, all the way through transplant, and post-transplant care throughout a transplant recipient’s life. Through BCPRA’s PROMIS Executive Steering Committee (ESC), including representatives of BC’s renal and transplant communities, PROMIS upgrades and improvement initiatives are undertaken regularly.
