Davinder is one of those heroes.

What do you do?

I’ve been working as the Pharmacy Manager at Somerset Pharmacy in Surrey since 2010. The focus of our pharmacy is to ensure our patients, including transplant recipients, receive medication regimens so they can function at an optimal level. In working with the transplant clinics, we can help ensure that optimal health outcomes are achieved for our patients.

How long have you worked in organ donation/transplant? What made you want to work in this field?

I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia in 2003. I enjoy working with transplant medication because of the complex nature of the transplant drug regimens. I also enjoy the opportunity transplant medication allows to collaborate with other health care professionals for the greater care of the patient.

What do you enjoy most about what you do? What’s most rewarding?

The most rewarding part of my job is when I can simplify drug therapy for my patients. Whether it’s improving compliance or sitting down with patients and performing a medication review—it’s rewarding to be part of their lives and to see transplant recipients free from the illnesses that causes them to need transplants in the first place.
